TEEN ESTEEM

Teen Esteem is gearing up for our annual FUNdraiser where all proceeds are used to educate and empower the students and parents in the community. The fundraising dinner will take place Saturday, March 18th at Blackhawk Country Club, 599 Blackhawk Circle, Danville. The cocktail reception will start at 6:00 pm with dinner and auction starting at 7:00 pm. They will have a live and silent auction, raffle and more! Dress is casual! ACT & SAT BOOTCAMP

The Catalyst SAT & ACT Bootcamps are not "mock" SAT or ACT tests or an infomercial for services. They are momentum-boosting two-day seminars that guarantee students march into the SAT or ACT with every key strategy fresh in their mind. Selected topics include how to: 

  • Spot hidden clues that instantly reveal the main idea in long reading passages
    • Avoid the sneakiest ways grammar questions try to trick students
    • Shortcut math questions that stump more than 90% of test-takers
    • Compose a perfect-score essay - no matter what question the SAT asks

The date has changed for the ACT Boot Camp because of the conflict of Junior Prom. The date has changed from March 25th to March 18th & 19th from 9am to 1 pm, cost is $175 Pick up an information sheet in the College & Career Center. To enroll in the boot camps, go to www.catalystprep.com. The ACT test is April 8th and June 10th, register at www.actstudent.org

  SENIOR EVENTS

Sign up for the remind app for both Grad night as well as other senior activities. In a text message, enter 81010. The message should contain one or both (in separate texts) of the following:

Senior Ball – Senior Ball will be held on Saturday, April 29th from 8:00 pm – 12:00 am at the Bently Reserve (301 Battery St., San Francisco). The price for tickets has not yet been set. Tickets will be on sale from March 27th – April 21st.

Ticket Sales: February 27th – March 17th, 2017

Online (Webstore)  $80.00 w/ASB, $85.00 w/out

Treasurer’s Office  $90.00 w/ASB, $95.00 w/out

Tickets are available for purchase on the web store or at the Treasurer’s office during brunch, lunch or after school until 4:00 pm. Please note the price difference. You must bring your parent permission form (and have your approved guest pass, if bringing a guest) to the Treasurer’s Office. If you purchased your ticket on the webstore please bring your receipt to validate your purchase. 

 

Purchase your ticket by end of school on Friday, March 17th; there will be NO late sales. Tickets are NON-REFUNDABLE

Parent Permission Forms: EVERY Junior and their parent(s) must complete a permission form and submit it to the Treasurer’s Office when purchasing their ticket.

Guest Passes:

  •        Every guest who is NOT a CVCHS Junior needs a guest pass even if they are a CVCHS Student.
  •        Complete the separate Guest Pass Application available in Student Services and submit it to Student    Services for Administration approval and signature.
  •        Last day to turn in Guest Pass for approval is Thursday, March 16th.
  •        Please allow 24 hours for guest’s approval and pick up your signed form in Student Services. If your guest is   not approved, you will be notified by a CVCHS Administrator.
  • You may purchase your guest’s ticket once your guest is approved.
  • Final Day to purchase a ticket is Friday, March 17th.

CCC Job

John Muir National Historic Site is seeking members for the 2017 Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) summer program. YCC provides local youth, ages 15-18 to gain an outdoor work experience that is safe, educational, and meaningful to young adults of all backgrounds. PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT: 8 weeks: June 19th - August 11th,
HOURS: Work hours are 7:00am - 3:30pm, Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week. SALARY: $10.50 per hour. Must attend a mandatory orientation on Saturday, June 3rd 2017, 9:00AM – 12:00PM. To apply go to

Scholarships:

Great Clips: Scholarship for students who are interested in pursuing a cosmetology career. Award of $250 - $1,500, go to www.greatclipscareers.com/scholarships deadline is March 31.

CABCA Clayton Business & Community Scholarship for students who reside in the Clayton zip code of 94517 and plans to enroll in 2 or 4 year college.  Total awards of $25,000. Pick up an application in the College & Career Center.  Deadline is March 20th.

Juniors & Seniors:

DVC Summer Institute (June 19 – July 27, 2017, Monday-Thursday, 9:15am – 2:35pm)

DVC will once again be offering the Summer Institute college bridge program for recent high school graduates and rising seniors. While earning high school and/or college credits for the following college courses: Career & College Major Exploration, Math 77, English 116 and English 90. Firefighter Career Expo:

For Middle and High School students who might be interested in the firefighter career.  Location of the expo is in Sacramento on March 25th.  A presentation of “A day in the life of a firefighter and a physical ability test course, free BBQ and much more.
