GENTLE REMINDER

Please remind your students who may be walking to and from the Bowling Alley that they are to stay on the sidewalks.  We have received complaints from surrounding businesses about students walking through and trampling their grass and landscape.  Thank you for being courteous neighbors.

 

FINALS SCHEDULE

  

Finals are fast approaching. Seniors will take finals on Wednesday and Thursday, May 24th & 25th utilizing the normal bell schedule for block days.  Finals for all other grades will take place on May 31-June 2 and will be on the schedule below. Tuesday, May 30 will be a regular 6 period (plus zero) day.

SENIOR NOTICES

Cap & Gowns: Cap & Gowns, along with graduation tickets, were distributed last week. If your student was absent, please go to the Treasurer’s Office during lunch or brunch. If you will not be utilizing your allotment of tickets, please return your extra tickets to the Treasurer’s Office. Likewise, if you are in need of additional tickets, please contact the Treasurer’s Office to be put on the waiting list.

 

Graduation: Graduation is not far away!  It will be taking place on Thursday, June 1rd at 6:00 pm at the Concord Pavilion. 

 

College Grade Reminder:  Seniors must pass all core classes with a “C” or better for college admission.

 

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Thank you to those who have signed up so far. With less than a month left of school, we are still in need of additional parent volunteers to assist in checking in books at the library. Any time commitment is greatly appreciated.  We need multiple volunteers each day from 8:00 – 3:00 pm on May 18th - 26th. If you can help out, please send an email to Janet Thys (janet.thys@claytonvalley.org) and provide her with your availability.

 

 2017-2018 STUDENT PARKING

  • Permit price: $50.00. Students must use their space 80% of school days or the permit could be revoked due to limited parking spaces on campus.
  • Student must have a valid driver’s license to apply for a permit.
  • All parking spaces/permits will be randomly assigned to students.
  • Seniors - Spaces will be filled in order of application received online.
  • Juniors – Available permits will be assigned via a lottery drawing on Friday, August 4, 2017. You will be notified via email that you will or will not receive a parking permit for the upcoming school year.
  • A waitlist will be created for any student who did not receive a permit.
  •      Required documentation: You will need your school ID number, driver’s license information, vehicle information (year, make, model, color) license plate number and insurance carrier name and policy number to complete the registration application online.
  •      Overflow parking is available at Boatwright at no-charge.

 

Seniors priority registration May 15th – May 26th.

Juniors registration May 29th – June 9th.

The final day to apply for a parking permit to be considered in the application pool is Friday, June 30, 2017. Student must have a current driver’s license to apply.

Please remember that registering your vehicle does not guarantee you a parking permit for the upcoming school year. All students will be notified on Friday, August 4, 2017 via email on whether you will or will not receive a parking permit.

Payment and pick up of the permit will take place during Senior and Junior Walk-Thru on August 8th and 9th. You will have the option to pay on the school’s webstore once you have been notified you have received a parking spot.

 DRESS CODE REMINDER

With Spring in the Air students we need you to remember the dress code.  Grooming and appearance must not be disruptive or affect the health or safety of individuals. 

 

Please remember the following:

  1. No tube tops, halter tops, spaghetti strap tops, or see-through blouses. Tank tops are allowed, however, the straps must be as wide as the width of two fingers (two inches).
  2. No bare midriffs, cleavage, or underwear. Tank tops, blouses, and shirts need to have necklines with no exposed cleavage.
  3. No ribbed or thin cotton tank tops, traditionally worn as an undershirt.
  4. No shorts, skirts and/or dresses shorter than your fingertips with the relaxed hand, arms straight at your side.
  5. Inappropriate tights and leggings cannot be worn in place of pants. These items can only be worn under tunics/dresses/skirts that have lengths no shorter than what was stated in Item #4.
  6. Sweats and pajama bottoms cannot be worn in place of pants, except for approved CV club and sport organizations.
  1. No clothing or accessories promoting the use of drugs, alcohol, and/or tobacco.
  2. Clothing may not contain offensive, obscene images and/or language; no depictions of weapons or any kind of gang attire.
  3. No sagging pants that expose underwear or shorts underneath. The waistband must remain above the hip flexor. Waistband should never be on the thigh.
  4. Holes in jeans and pants must be lower than dress code length stated in Item #4.
  5. Shoes must be worn at all times. No sole-less shoes or slippers.
  6. Hats and hoods may not be worn inside a building.

1st Offense is the removal or covering of clothing with replacement, parent contact and detention

2nd Offense results in the removal or covering of clothing with replacement, parent contact, detention and Saturday School.

3rd Offense is 1 day in-school detention.

4th Offense let’s just not go there we only have 30 days left after today.

 

CAREER CENTER

DVC Summer Camps: 9th, 10th and 11th Grade Students interested in Culinary, Technical Arts, Business, Engineering, Construction and Manufacturing, Environmental Science and Hospitality can earn college and high school credit at DVC.  For more information go to www.dvc.edu/careerpathways.
