Freshmen & Sophomores Experience Challenge Day 2019

Full logo

CVCHS hosts Challenge Day every year for our students. Challenge Day is happening September 30th - Thursday, October 3rd. This year, Challenge Day will be open to all Freshmen and Sophomore students.  Each student will attend one day throughout the week. For more information about Challenge Day, click here

In the past, CVCHS has hosted this event with only the 10th grade class. In looking at programs and offerings, the school wanted to ensure there was capacity for follow-up after the Challenge Day experience. Freshman have Link Crew and the Character Counts program, both offered through PE. These are valuable ways to ensure students are supported following Challenge Day and through their Freshman year.

However, current Sophomores would be missing out on the Challenge Day experience as this was not offered to them in their 9th grade year. Therefore, any Sophomore interested in Challenge Day is encouraged to sign up for the experience in their World History class.

Imagine a world where bullying, violence and other forms of oppression are things of the past. Experience the breakthrough program that has been featured on Oprah, MTV and Tom Brokaw. We promise laughter, dance parties, hugs, high fives and one of the best days of your life, and it's free to participate!

Challenge Day is a memorable experiential program that has reached more than 1.5 million youth and adults since 1987. The day-long experience strengthens emotional safety and social relationships, positively influences educational achievement, builds cross-cultural connections, and reduces conflict and bullying.

Challenge Day has taken place in more than 2,200 schools throughout 48 U.S. states, in 10 countries including much of Canada, The Netherlands, Belgium, and several others. The program has reached more than 1.5 million kids and adults on the ground in schools and communities, and millions more through legendary televised programs. Challenge Day has been featured twice on Oprah, in the 2010 Tom Brokaw documentary called Bridging the Divide, and in the 12-episode MTV series If You Really Knew Me in 2010. The Dutch documentary, Over de Streep (Cross the Line), aired for five seasons.

Challenge Day is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, located in Concord, California in the San Francisco Bay Area, and program leaders travel from nearby locations to facilitate Challenge Day programs around the world.
