(This event has been postponed due to COVID-19. The program will occur once we can transition to hybrid or fully on-site learning)
AUGUST 4-6th, 2020
The Link Crew orientation program is designed to both welcome and support Freshmen by assigning them Link Leader mentors prior to the first day of school. These Link Leaders are responsible older students who were hand selected from a large pool of applicants and have met the qualifications of being a good role model and a positive leader on our campus.
“It is not what you do FOR your children, but what you have taught them to do for themselves that will make them successful human beings.” ~ Ann Landers
Freshman Orientation FAQ
Tuesday 8/4 = Students come with a Guardian (Specific times to be emailed in July)
Wednesday 8/5 (last names A-K) OR Thursday 8/6 (last names L-Z) Students ONLY
Do I leave my student at the Large Gym on their orientation morning of 8/5 OR 8/6?
Yes, please drop them off in front of the Large gym and pick up in the same location- we will take it from there. Parents, they are in good hands! Only attend on your assigned day
What are the start and end times on 8/5 OR 8/6?
Orientation is from 9am-noon. Students will only attend 1 day!
How will CVCHS ensure social distancing and sanitary issues due to COVID?
Rest assured that we will have ample hand sanitizer on site. Masks are heavily recommended to be worn by staff and students when indoors (masks must be worn by staff and students if they cannot appropriately distance indoors or outdoors). For this reason, all students and staff on campus must have a mask in their possession.
Will my student need to bring anything with them on 8/5 OR 8/6?
Students may not bring backpacks, bags or purses. They are allowed to bring their phones since they may want to take pictures on our “Club Wall Walk”. We will review appropriate use and school cell phone rules during the orientation.
What will my student be doing during their orientation day on 8/5 OR 8/6?
Students will be in groups of 6 Freshmen, led by 2 Link Leaders. While we sadly cannot offer our traditional 4-day program, we will still offer full campus tours, team building exercises, student handbook info, social media/digital footprint presentations, dress code info, PowerSchool and Schoology overview, grading policy, graduation requirements, Social/Emotional health info and much more!
*Important Reminder: Parents must come WITH their student on Tuesday, August 4th for Yearbook photos, to get class schedules & more. There also will be gift bags for all Frosh (t-shirt, planner, CVCHS cinch bag, etc), family photo ops with our CVCHS backdrop and a private tour for every family.
A Link Leader will walk each 9th grader to their specific classes and help them open their assigned locker. Families will be emailed in July with exact times for the 8/4 event as well as posted on the Class of 2024 Remind App. We encourage all students and guardians to sign up for this app. All plans are subject to change due to county health guidelines.
Stay Informed! We need ALL guardians and every student to join the FREE ‘Remind’ app for the class of 2024- NO need to download the app!
