Dr. Patrick Gaffney
Ms.Bonnett is starting her third year at Clayton Valley as a School Counselor. Before working at Clayton Valley, She worked at the community college level working with at-risk high school students in OUSD. This is where she grew her passion for working with high school students and decided to make the transition to working at the high school level full-time. Outside of work Ms.Bonnett is very active and enjoys most physical activities. She loves to be around family and friends, eating good food, and making memories.
Mrs.Coleman is a new counselor at Clayton Valley but has many years of experience. She holds a Masters Degree in Counseling and Guidance, two teaching credentials and completed the College Counseling Program at UC Berkeley. She enjoys working with students to reach their personal and academic goals and assisting them with post secondary planning. Mrs.Coleman loves to spend time in nature.
This is Mrs. Garcia first year as CVCHS's as a school counselor/college counselor. She recently moved from her hometown Petaluma in the North Bay to the East Bay. She is a graduate from Sonoma State where she received her Bachelors in Sociology and a graduate from the University of San Francisco where she received her Master’s of Arts in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in School Counseling with a PPS Credential. Her passion is to work with students of all backgrounds to help them reach their maximum potential. In her free time Mrs. Garcia enjoys spending time with her family, dog and taking trips to Disneyland.
Ms. Gonzalez is one of CVCHS’s newest school counselors/college counselors this year. She recently moved from LA to the Bay. She is a graduate from East Los Angeles Community College where she received her AA in General Studies with an emphasis in Social and Behavioral Science as well as an AA-T in Psychology, a graduate of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona where she received her Bachelors in Psychology, and a graduate from the University of Southern California where she received her Master’s of Education in School Counseling with a PPS Credential. Ms. Gonzalez remembers the challenges faced while navigating the admission and financial aid processes, and wants to serve as a resource for all students. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family, pets, cooking, reading, watching TV, and traveling.
This is Mr.Lefiti's first year at Clayton Valley and first year as a school counselor. Prior to serving in this role, Mr.Lefiti was a substitute teacher for MDUSD – he really enjoyed subbing at Olympic and his alma mater, Mt. Diablo High, as he felt those students benefited greatly from his ability to relate with them. Mr.Lefiti completed his undergrad at CSU Monterey Bay where he majored in Psychology and also played Men’s basketball. He is currently the head assistant men’s basketball coach at Diablo Valley College. Mr.Lefiti received his PPS Credential and MS Degree in School Counseling from Concordia University – Irvine. Ultimately, Mr.Lefiti has a passion for wanting to help the youth. Growing up in Bay Point, where there aren’t many resources, he understands the importance of having them and hopes he can fill that void for others. In his free time, Mr.Lefiti enjoys spending time with family and friends and indulges in anything basketball-related. Be on the lookout for P3, Patrick’s son; he’s going to do some special things.
Mrs.Rush is in her fourth year at Clayton Valley as a School Counselor. Danielle attended CSU East Bay for her undergraduate studies where she played softball. She also holds a teaching credential from Saint Mary's College of California and an MS degree in Counseling from CSU East Bay. Prior to being at Clayton Valley, Mrs.Rush was an English teacher in MDUSD and a counseling intern for CSU East Bay's Athletics Department. In addition to school counseling, she is close to receiving licensure in Marriage and Family Therapy. She enjoys working with students and athletes in pursuing their personal and academic goals. Outside of Clayton Valley, Danielle enjoys watching the Oakland A's and getting milk tea!
Mrs.Scharff joined the CVCHS School Counseling team two years ago. Prior to CVCHS she was a school counselor at San Ramon Valley High School, Cupertino Middle School and the Bahrain School (part of the Department of Defense Education Activity). She is a graduate of Pacific University in Oregon, where she played basketball and golf. After ten years in the business world, Mrs.Scharff found her true calling and completed her master's degree at San Diego State University for School Counseling. Mrs.Scharff is originally from Washington state and enjoys a rainy day, hiking on Mount Diablo with her family, and archery competitions with her husband.
Student Resource Technician
Maribel has been a CVCHS Student Resource Technician since 2005. She first started working at CV as a long-term substitute in 2004. For the past 16 years Maribel has loved being able to work with the students and the counselors on her team (meeting 17 amazing counselors in total). Her two daughters also graduated from CV in 2016 and 2018. Maribel thinks that every day is a learning process. She encourages students to not focus on what has gone wrong, but to realize what can go right, and to shoot for the stars.
