Eligibility & Registration

1. Students must pass four (4) classes. This is a State law. There is no waiver process for this.
2. Students must receive a 2.0 overall GPA for the last grading period. Grading Periods are defined as 1st Quarter, 1st Semester, 3rd Quarter, 2nd Semester
3. All grade are final on the Date of Determination. Grades changed after the Date of Determination are not valid towards athletics grading period even though they are valid towards graduation.
4. If the student does not meet academic eligibility:
   1. Waiver Process for having a 1.5 - 1.99 GPA
      1. Contact Athletic Director for Application for Academic Contract
      2. Parent and Student must agree to the following conditions:
         • Must have no F's on next progress reporting period
         • Must have a 2.0 GPA at next progress reporting period
         • Must have no discipline referrals through waiver process
         • Must have no unexcused absences through next progress reporting period
         • Weekly progress reports turned into the Coach
      3. Meet with Athletic Director
      4. Returned signed contract to Athletic Director. Must be signed by Parent, Student, and Athletic Director.
   2. Waiver for having a 1.0 - 1.5 GPA
      1. Contact Athletic Director for Application for Academic Contract
      2. Parent and Student must agree to the following conditions:
         • Must have no F's on next progress reporting period
         • Must have a 2.0 GPA at next progress reporting period
         • Must have no discipline referrals through waiver process
         • Must have no unexcused absences through next progress reporting period
         • Weekly progress reports turned into the Coach
      3. Meet with Principal
      4. Returned signed contract to Athletic Director. Must be signed by Parent, Student, Coach, Athletic Director, and Principal.

1. Ninth (9th) grade athletes are eligible for one (1) waiver.

2. Athletes are eligible to use another academic athletic waiver during their 10th-12th grade year.

3. Two (2) waivers in four (4) years. One (1) for freshman year only, then one (1) for the 10th-12th grade.

4. If a student has two (2) consecutive below 2.0 grading periods, he is ruled ineligible. There is no waiver for this rule.

5. If a student does not pass four (4) classes, he is ruled ineligible. There is no waiver for this rule.

To be cleared for participation in sports at CVCHS, a sports clearance packet must be completed before an athlete can be involved in any athletic activity, including tryouts/practice.

Please follow the instructions below:

1. Parents must register their student-athlete online through Athletic Clearances Registration before a student can try out for a sport.
2. A current physical must be uploaded.
   • Your athlete's physical is good for one year from the date of the physician's signature.
     (Remember – each physical form needs to be signed and stamped by your physician to be deemed valid. Also, if the physical will expire during the athlete's season please make an appointment for a new physical exam so your athlete does not miss any practice or playing time.)
3. Medical Insurance information must be provided.
4. The following items must be completed and accepted online:
   • Ejection Policy
   • Parent/Student Athletic Handbook
   • Sudden Cardiac Arrest Information Sheet
