The end of quarter ONE is approaching fast! This is the halfway point for semester ONE - and a very good time to assess student progress, communicate concerns, and seek support as needed. A few tips, reminders, and an overview of our progression of supports :

  1. The FIRST line for student support should occur as a natural component of bell-to-bell instruction where teachers closely monitor student learning and provide timely feedback and intervention accordingly.
  2. Eagle Time is a specific time during the last 30 minutes of each block period for intervention. ALL students earning below a 70% in the class should receive targeted support that is documented and communicated in the weekly progress report. Please reach out to your student’s teacher if you are not receiving support updates.
  3. Student-to-teacher communication is the first line of action to seek help. Encourage your student to communicate in writing via email - clearly state the support needed and desire for help. This teaches students to document, in writing, their needs. Teachers should respond within 48 hours, with a plan.
  4. Parent involvement: If student advocacy does not work, the parent should follow up with a request.
  5. If attempts by student and parent do not result in timely or productive action, the student’s counselor and administration may be contacted to support - the goal is not to have to move through three steps!
